Proposes adding Section 26 to Article I of the Alaska Constitution stating "To protect human life, nothing in this constitution may be construed to secure or protect a right to an abortion or require the State to fund an abortion."

Prohibits the state constitution from being interpreted to guarantee a right to abortion or mandate state funding for abortion procedures.

Requires the proposed amendment to be placed before Alaska voters at the next general election in accordance with Article XIII, Section 1 of the state constitution and election laws.

Introduced by Senator Hughes on January 21, 2020 and referred to the Health and Social Services, Judiciary, and Finance committees.
