• Establishes state policy allowing public secondary school students age 14+ to participate in concurrent career and technical education programs, including vocational education, pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, and work-based learning.

• Requires school districts to adopt policies allowing students to earn secondary school credit in science, math, engineering, or other applicable courses for experience gained through contracted career and technical education programs.

• Allows students to receive course credit in career and technical education, physical education, music, or art for participating in activities outside school hours if the school district determines the activity meets course requirements.

• Requires the Department of Education to collaborate with the Department of Labor and Workforce Development to provide financial and technical support for school districts creating, expanding, or operating concurrent career and technical education programs.

• Modifies child labor laws to allow employment of children under the direct supervision of an adult relative (not just parents) in a family business, extends work hours until 10 p.m. (from 9 p.m.), and lowers the age threshold for general employment authorization from 17 to 16 years old.
