HB 155 Summary

• Alaska Court System shall provide visitors and experts in guardianship proceedings under AS 13.26.291 and may contract for these services.

• Alaska Court System shall bear the costs of visitors and experts appointed in guardianship proceedings, replacing previous responsibility assigned to the State.

• Office of Public Advocacy's duty to provide visitors and experts in guardianship proceedings is removed; office retains other duties including guardian ad litem services and legal representation.

• Alaska Court System shall provide visitors in proceedings under AS 47.30.839 involving psychotropic medication administration and may contract for these services.

• Act takes effect July 1, 2022, with a transition provision allowing the Office of Public Advocacy to continue providing visitors and experts until the effective date.
