HB 22 Summary

• Allows individuals with ownership interests in milk-producing animals to pay or reimburse other co-owners for costs of boarding, milking, caring for the animal, and sharing raw milk and raw milk products.

• Part owners may share raw milk or raw milk products only with other co-owners who have provided at least two contact methods in case of foodborne illness.

• Requires that raw milk and raw milk products be produced exclusively by the animal owners and transferred directly between owners.

• Prohibits the state department from imposing restrictions or requirements on raw milk sharing between co-owners beyond those specified in the law.

• Defines "raw milk" as unpasteurized milk and "raw milk product" as raw milk or any product or byproduct derived from raw milk.
