Employers cannot require employees to assign rights to inventions developed entirely on the employee's own time without using company equipment, supplies, facilities, or trade secrets, unless the invention relates to the employer's business or research/development activities or results from work performed for the employer.

Employment agreement provisions requiring assignment of such employee-developed inventions are unenforceable.

Any employment agreement clause prohibiting an Alaska employee from seeking legal relief under this section in Alaska courts is unenforceable.

The law applies to all employment agreements entered into on or after the effective date of the Act.
