HCR 11 Summary

• Amends Rule 3(b) of the Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature regarding legislative employee hiring and employment.

• Replaces the term "secretarial help" with "any additional employees" when referring to staff assigned to individual members.

• Allows each legislator to hire without prior approval one permanent legislative employee and one seasonal legislative employee hired for the duration of each session.

• Establishes that the Rules Committees of both houses jointly decide compensation and conditions of employment for staff under their supervision, within the budgeted amount for session staff.

• Requires the director of administrative services of the Legislative Affairs Agency to assist and make recommendations to the Rules Committees and members regarding staff compensation and related matters.
