Alaska Legislature welcomes and supports the Alaska Ocean Cluster's mission to develop a vibrant coastal economy and diversified state economy based on ocean resources.

Legislature recognizes Alaska's significant ocean economy assets, including one-third of the U.S. exclusive economic zone, over half the nation's seafood harvest, and Arctic region opportunities.

Legislature acknowledges the global ocean economy is projected to double to $3 trillion by 2030 and that clusters have driven over 50 ocean industry growth initiatives worldwide, with Iceland as a leading example.

Alaska Ocean Cluster's current priorities include mariculture, increased fish utilization, innovative ocean-based business incubation, and ocean technology research and development.

Legislature commits to collaborating with the Bering Sea Fishermen's Association's Alaska Ocean Cluster program as a partner to build sustainable, interconnected ocean industry networks throughout the state.
