SB 125 - Hunting Permits: Transferability

• Adds new statute AS 16.05.404 to allow the Department of Fish and Game to transfer or reissue a hunting permit awarded by Board of Game drawing to a qualified substitute if the original permit holder has died.

• Permits only the spouse of the deceased or an immediate family member (parent, sibling, or child related by blood, marriage, or adoption) to apply for the transfer.

• Requires the applicant to provide proof of death acceptable to the department and must apply before the hunting permit's validity period ends.

• Limits transferred permits to qualified substitutes who meet the same conditions as the original recipient and can only be used for the specific hunt originally awarded.

• Takes effect immediately and applies retroactively to permits awarded before, on, or after the Act's effective date.
