• Expands resident rights to include Internet access (subject to community availability), visiting with persons of choice consistent with home visiting hours, and quality care defined as care in accordance with the resident's assisted living plan and health care provider recommendations.

• Adds explicit protections against retaliation, requiring residents' right to present grievances and recommendations for change in home policies without fear of reprisal.

• Defines "retaliation" as an adverse action taken or threatened by an assisted living home against a resident in response to a complaint made to or about the home.
