AK SJR10

Proposes an amendment to Article VII, Section 1 of the Alaska Constitution to add a requirement that public schools provide the opportunity for in-person education unless a disaster declaration is in effect.

Maintains existing constitutional language requiring the legislature to establish and maintain a system of public schools open to all children of the State.

Preserves existing protections that schools be free from sectarian control and that no public funds be used for direct benefit of religious or private educational institutions.

Requires the proposed amendment to be placed before Alaska voters at the next general election in accordance with Article XIII, Section 1 of the Alaska Constitution and state election laws.
