• Urges the United States Congress to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset provisions of the Social Security Act

• The Windfall Elimination Provision reduces Social Security benefits by up to $498 per month for public employees and teachers who are ineligible to earn Social Security credits through their government employment

• The Government Pension Offset reduces Social Security spousal and survivor benefits by up to two-thirds of the amount received from public employee or teacher retirement systems

• Alaska public employees and teachers are disproportionately and more negatively affected per capita by these provisions than public employees and teachers in any other state or territory

• The provisions impair recruitment and retention of public school teachers, police officers, firefighters, and other public employees, and the resolution directs copies be sent to Congress members and federal officials
