HB 201 Summary

• Requires holders of permanent identification cards to continue meeting residency requirements in order to sport fish, hunt, or trap in Alaska.

• Adds requirement that individuals must have been physically present in Alaska during the entire 12-month residency period, with absences only allowed as specified in AS 43.23.008.

• Authorizes the commissioner of Fish and Game to adopt regulations for determining resident eligibility, require proof of eligibility, and consult information from other state departments or agencies.

• Takes effect January 1, 2025, except for the regulatory authority provision which takes effect immediately.
