HB 202 Summary

• School districts must ensure a trained person administers opioid overdose drugs whenever main school buildings are open to students or staff, including before/after school hours and weekend activities, and during school-sponsored events on school grounds.

• School districts must maintain at least two doses of opioid overdose drug in each main school building and at least one dose during school-sponsored events; the Department of Health provides drugs and training videos.

• School districts, schools, and individuals are not liable for civil damages resulting from failure to possess or maintain opioid overdose drugs.

• Homeschool and correspondence study programs must annually provide individualized learning plans developed collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and include statewide assessments and quarterly monitoring; programs may provide annual student allotments for implementation of learning plans.

• Correspondence study programs must submit annual reports to the Department of Education including enrollment numbers, student demographics, allotment fund accounting, assessment scores, and curricula reviews.
