Legislature intends to reduce employment barriers for people convicted of low-level marijuana possession crimes that would be legal on January 1, 2025

Agencies may not release criminal justice information for convictions under AS 11.71.060 or similar municipal ordinances for possession of less than one ounce of a schedule VIA controlled substance if the defendant was 21 years or older and has no other convictions in that case and requests non-disclosure

Restriction on record release applies only when the defendant requests that the agency not release the records

The restriction on releasing records under subsection (f)(4) expires and is repealed on January 1, 2028

Act takes effect January 1, 2025
