• Sets a 140,000 pound loaded gross weight limit for vehicles on state highways, with exceptions provided in AS 19.10.065, and requires a permit to exceed this limit.

• Requires the Department of Transportation to charge a permit fee calculated based on the vehicle's equivalent single axle load (damage equivalent to one pass of an 18,000 pound dual-tire axle) and distance traveled to offset roadway maintenance and administrative costs.

• Exempts implements of husbandry from the new 140,000 pound weight limit unless the implement is being transported as the load of another vehicle.

• Authorizes peace officers and authorized Department of Transportation employees to issue citations for violations of the 140,000 pound weight limit.

• Takes effect June 30, 2024.
