AK HJR28

Removes the constitutional prohibition that "no money shall be paid from public funds for the direct benefit of any religious or other private educational institution" from Article VII, Section 1.

Adds an exception to Article IX, Section 6 (Public Purpose clause) allowing public funds to be used for "the direct educational benefit of students as provided by law," permitting payments that would otherwise violate the public purpose requirement.

Requires voter approval of these constitutional amendments at the next general election in accordance with Alaska constitutional amendment procedures.
