Alaska Legislature requests Congress pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (H.R. 38) or similar legislation to establish interstate recognition of concealed carry permits.

Legislation should determine how concealed carry permits issued by one state may be proven and recognized in another state, allowing permit holders to carry concealed firearms across state lines on equal terms.

38 states currently recognize valid Alaska concealed handgun permits; states issuing permits require criminal background checks, fingerprints, and handgun competency courses.

Alaska Legislature requests the President sign any such legislation passed by Congress and directs copies be sent to federal officials including President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Alaska's congressional delegation.

Resolution cites the Second Amendment, U.S. Supreme Court precedent in District of Columbia v. Heller, and Alaska's constitutional protection of individual firearm rights as basis for the request.
