SB 10 Summary

• Provides free resident hunting, trapping, and sport fishing licenses to active members of the Alaska National Guard and United States military reserves (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard reserves).

• Makes permanent sport fishing, hunting, and trapping identification cards available without charge to disabled veterans who were discharged under honorable conditions, are eligible for loans under AS 18.56.101, and have a 50 percent or greater disability rating from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

• Makes permanent identification cards available without charge to Alaska Territorial Guard members who are eligible for loans under AS 18.56.101 and incurred a 50 percent or greater disability while serving.

• Requires persons issued permanent identification cards to carry either the valid identification card or appropriate license when sport fishing, hunting, or trapping.

• Takes effect January 1, 2024.
