SB 13 - Textbook Cost Transparency Act

• University of Alaska online course schedules must clearly identify all required course materials in each course description.

• Course schedules must identify which required materials are zero-cost resources and, where practicable, which are low-cost resources (defined as costing no more than four times Alaska's hourly minimum wage).

• Course schedules must display the amount of any automatic fees charged for required course materials at student registration.

• University of Alaska online course schedules must include a search function allowing students to identify courses where all required materials are zero-cost or low-cost resources.

• The law takes effect July 1, 2026.
