Amends AS 26.05.180(a) to add preference provisions for assistant adjutant general appointments within the Alaska National Guard headquarters.

The adjutant general may give preference to a person who has served at least five years in the Alaska Army National Guard or the Alaska Air National Guard when making appointments.

Changes appointment requirements for assistant adjutant generals from holding a federally-recognized commission with at least five years of service to holding only a federally recognized field-grade commission.

Takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
