Establishes the crime of airbag fraud in Alaska by adding new section 28.35.248 to state law.

Makes it illegal to knowingly sell, install, import, or reinstall replacement airbags that do not comply with federal safety regulations, are counterfeit, or are nonfunctioning.

Prohibits knowingly manufacturing counterfeit or nonfunctioning airbags or parts designed to conceal such airbags.

Makes intentionally selling, leasing, or trading vehicles with non-compliant, counterfeit, or nonfunctioning airbags a crime.

Establishes penalties of a class A misdemeanor for airbag fraud, or a class C felony if the offense results in death or serious physical injury to another person.

Exempts police vehicles, dealerships and vehicle owners without knowledge of defective airbags, insurance companies disposing of total loss vehicles, and creates no duty to inspect vehicles for defective airbags before sale.
