Department shall issue temporary licenses valid up to 180 days (renewable once for 180 days) to applicants licensed in another U.S. state or Canadian province with substantially equivalent requirements or scope of practice.

Applicants must not be subject to disciplinary action in another jurisdiction, have no disqualifying acts within 10 years, and must pay applicable fees; criminal history checks subject to same requirements as permanent licenses.

Temporary licenses satisfy requirements to practice the regulated profession under AS 08.01.010, excluding professions regulated under AS 08.48, 08.54, and 08.62.

Military servicemembers and spouses may receive military courtesy licenses to practice a profession for which they hold a license in another jurisdiction; expanded definition includes members of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Corps and U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.

Repeals multiple existing temporary permit provisions and related statutes; takes effect July 1, 2024.
