Municipal governing bodies may alter school board member terms of office by ordinance, deviating from the standard three-year terms set in state law

Amends AS 14.12.050 and AS 29.20.300 to grant municipalities local control over school board term lengths

Current law requires school board members to be elected at regular elections for three-year terms until successors take office

Members continue to be elected at-large unless voters approve a different election method

Takes effect immediately upon passage
