Maximum classroom sizes established for Alaska public schools: 23 students for grades K-3, 26 students for grades 4-8, and 30 students for grades 9-12

Exemptions apply to art, library, music, computer science, vocational-technical, and physical education courses, as well as districts with average daily membership of 35,000 or less

Districts must notify parents twice yearly (by November 30 and February 1) of classroom size requirements, average class sizes by grade level, and the number of students in their child's classroom

Class sizes may exceed maximums if caused by student transfers after the first day of the school term
