Prohibits metallic sulfide mining activities within the watershed of the Bristol Bay Fisheries Reserve, defined as mining to extract sulfide minerals or precious metals from sulfide-bearing rock

Protects a commercial fishery generating $2.2 billion annually in economic activity and supporting 15,000 jobs

Preserves 7,000 fishing and hunting jobs plus additional tourism and recreation employment in the region

Builds on the 1972 Bristol Bay Fisheries Reserve designation by adding mining restrictions to prevent pollution of rivers, groundwater, and aquifer systems
