AK HB26

Requires the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities to develop a statewide public and community transit plan in coordination with metropolitan planning organizations, local governments, tribal entities, and transit operators including ferry operators and the Alaska Railroad Corporation.

Expands the department's transportation planning duties to explicitly include public, tribal, and community transit programs when studying alternatives and developing long-range intermodal transportation plans.

Extends the scope of transportation improvement planning from urban areas only to include rural and remote areas throughout the state.

Mandates coordination with tribal entities, communities, and public/community transit operators when developing plans to improve transportation systems.
