Courts must order compensatory visitation when a parent was denied court-ordered visitation during a Department of Family and Community Services investigation that was ultimately found to be unsubstantiated

Compensatory visitation must match the same type and duration as the original missed visitation and must occur within two years of the court order

Courts may impose reasonable conditions on compensatory visitation to protect the child's best interests

The custodial parent can avoid compensatory visitation orders only by establishing good cause for deviating from the original court order

Effective date: July 1, 2026, applying to visitation denied on or after that date
