HB 48 - Civil Legal Services Fund

• Increases the maximum appropriation to Alaska's civil legal services fund from 10% to 25% of filing fees received by the Alaska Court System during the previous fiscal year
• Fund also receives amounts deposited under AS 09.17.020(j), which relates to punitive damages awards
• Appropriations from the fund go to organizations providing civil legal services to low-income individuals
• "Low-income individual" defined as having income at or below 125% of federal poverty guidelines for Alaska
