Social media platforms must prohibit Alaska residents under 16 from creating accounts and must terminate existing accounts of users under 16, with a 90-day dispute period before termination takes effect

Platforms are prohibited from using personal data of Alaska residents under 18 in personalized recommendation algorithms, though chronological display of content the user has selected or subscribed to is permitted

Minors under 18 harmed by knowing or reckless violations may sue through a parent or guardian for up to $10,000 in damages, with a one-year statute of limitations from discovery

The law applies only to platforms where at least 10% of daily active users under 18 spend 2+ hours per day on average, and that have "addictive features" such as infinite scroll, autoplay video, push notifications, or like/share metrics
