Proposes amending Article VII, Section 1 of the Alaska Constitution to add a new subsection recognizing the distinct and unique cultural heritages of American Indians and Alaska Natives

Commits the State to preserving the cultural integrity of American Indians and Alaska Natives when establishing and maintaining public schools and other educational institutions

Retains existing constitutional language requiring the legislature to establish public schools open to all children, free from sectarian control, with no public funds paid for direct benefit of religious or private educational institutions

Amendment would be placed before Alaska voters at the next general election for ratification
