• Establishes that beginning with the November 2012 general election, the Chair of the Dale County Commission shall be elected county-wide rather than being automatically held by the Judge of Probate.

• The Judge of Probate will no longer serve as chair of the county commission after the current judge's term ends.

• The chair position becomes a full-time role with an annual salary of $40,000, a monthly expense allowance of $300, and travel expenses and health insurance benefits equivalent to other county commission members.

• The chair shall serve four-year terms commencing in November and must be a resident and qualified elector of Dale County.

• The act becomes operative only upon approval by a majority of Dale County voters in a referendum to be held during the 2010 general election; if voters reject it, the act is repealed with no effect.
