Amends Alabama Code Section 13A-6-21 to add utility workers to the list of protected classes from intentional assault in the second degree.

Defines "utility worker" as any person employed by an entity that owns, operates, leases, or controls facilities for generation, transmission, production, supply, distribution, or delivery of electricity, natural gas, water, steam, sewage, or telephone service.

Assault in the second degree remains a Class C felony and applies when a person intends to prevent a utility worker from performing lawful duties and causes physical injury.

Excludes from Amendment 621 requirements as the bill defines a new crime or amends the definition of an existing crime rather than creating new local expenditures.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
