Requires mandatory life imprisonment without possibility of parole for defendants age 21 or older convicted of rape in the first degree, sodomy in the first degree, or sexual torture in the first degree when the victim is age 6 or younger.

Applies to convictions under Alabama Code Sections 13A-6-61, 13A-6-63, and 13A-6-65.1.

Sentencing judge must impose the mandatory life sentence with no discretion in sentencing.

Bill is exempt from Amendment 621 constitutional requirements regarding local expenditures because it defines a new crime or amends the definition of an existing crime.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
