HB 550 Summary

• Removes the prohibition on distinctive license plates for out-of-state colleges and universities under Alabama law.

• Allows the legislative oversight committee to approve distinctive license plates for out-of-state colleges and universities upon application for quantity Class 2.

• Requires a minimum of 1,000 commitments to purchase before the manufacture of such plates.

• The committee must review applications pursuant to Section 32-6-64 and may approve or disapprove them by a vote of two-thirds of members present.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
