• Amends Section 34-23-2 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to specify that the practice of pharmacy includes consultation by a licensed pharmacist concerning prescription legend drugs prescribed for a patient.

• Clarifies that consultation must be provided by a licensed pharmacist regarding prescription drugs prescribed by a health care provider authorized to prescribe.

• Reaffirms that only qualified persons may compound or dispense prescription drugs and medicines, and that pharmacies must be managed to protect the public.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
