HB62 Summary

• Amends Section 40-12-250 to authorize the Department of Revenue to determine registration fees for governmental and volunteer fire department license plates, with fees not to exceed standard passenger plate fees.

• Requires the Department of Revenue to collect an issuance fee at time of registration in the amount specified in Section 40-12-271 for all license plates covered under this section.

• Permits governmental entities and volunteer fire departments to transfer license plates to another vehicle upon certain conditions and allows replacement of mutilated or destroyed plates upon payment of replacement fees.

• Requires all fees associated with governmental and volunteer fire department license plates to be retained by the Department of Revenue to cover administrative costs.

• Takes effect January 1, 2011.
