• State employees may donate accrued and unused annual, sick, or compensatory leave to colleagues who have qualified for catastrophic sick leave or maternity leave, with no limit on hours donated or received.

• Donated leave remains valid for 12 months after donation or until used, whichever occurs first, and must be calculated on an hour-for-hour basis regardless of pay grade differences between donor and recipient.

• Employees with qualified catastrophic or maternity leave can use 3 to 5 days of donated catastrophic sick leave for bereavement purposes following the death of an immediate family member.

• Sick leave is defined to include absence due to illness, bodily injury, care of ill family members, death in the immediate family, or other strong personal relationship circumstances approved by the appointing authority.

• Bereavement leave maximum increased from 3 days to 5 days per occurrence and must be reimbursed to the state within one calendar year using sick leave, annual leave, or personal leave.
