HB69 Summary

• Amends Section 16-48-7 of the Alabama Code to authorize Auburn University's Board of Trustees, executive committee, and other board committees to conduct meetings via telephone conference, video conference, or similar communications equipment.

• Allows board members to participate in meetings remotely if all participants can hear each other simultaneously and participation counts as physical presence for quorum purposes.

• Requires meetings conducted by remote means to comply with the Alabama Open Meetings Act and provide public notice.

• Mandates that members of the public must have the opportunity to simultaneously listen to or observe remote meetings.

• Became effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (passed House on 09-FEB-10, Senate on 21-APR-10).
