HB797 Summary

• Amends Section 17-3-8 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to increase the maximum meeting days for the Elmore County Board of Registrars from 167 to 187 working days each fiscal year.

• Removes Elmore County from the group of counties limited to 167 working days and adds it to a new category with Autauga and Bibb Counties authorized to meet 187 days annually.

• Maintains existing provisions allowing boards of registrars to use up to 25 of their allotted working days for special registration sessions held in precincts, on Saturdays, or outside standard courthouse hours.

• Requires at least 10 days' notice before special sessions through posted bills in affected precincts and newspaper or radio/television announcements.

• Became effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor on April 22, 2010.
