HB91 Summary

• Proposes a constitutional amendment to the Alabama Constitution of 1901 allowing City of Prichard employees to participate in either the Employees' Retirement System of Alabama or the municipal retirement system.

• Employees participating in either retirement system shall have the same terms and conditions as other employees in that same retirement system as specified by law.

• Current Prichard employees at the time of amendment ratification may purchase service credit in the Employees' Retirement System retroactively for up to five years if they make the election within one year of ratification.

• Election on the proposed amendment shall be held in accordance with Amendment 555 to the Alabama Constitution and state election laws.

• Election officials shall place the amendment on the ballot with a description of the amendment and Yes/No voting options.
