Flomaton Public Library received a Five-Star rating in the Library Journal Index of Public Library Service 2009, Round 2, one of only 258 libraries nationwide to receive three, four, or five stars out of 7,268 total public libraries.

The library was one of only 12 libraries in the southeast to achieve the prestigious Five-Star rating based on four per capita statistics: visits, circulation, program attendance, and public Internet use.

The library's mission focuses on providing free and open access to information, materials, and services for lifelong learning, civic engagement, and the exchange of ideas as community needs evolve.

Director Faye Knowles and the dedicated library staff receive credit for the exceptional achievement through their skill, integrity, and professional commitment.

The Alabama Legislature honors and commends the Flomaton Public Library for attaining well-deserved national recognition as a Five-Star Library.
