"Swede" Johnson Award, administered by the American Association of Community Colleges, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the Association of Public Land-grant Universities, and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Recognizes Fulford as a 27-year veteran of the governmental affairs profession and the first female lobbyist for higher education in Alabama.

Notes Fulford's service on Alabama's Higher Education Steering Committee and her instrumental role in establishing a common legislative agenda for the state's colleges and universities.

Acknowledges Fulford's contributions to establishing the Higher Education Partnership and serving on its original board of directors.
