Direct the Alabama Head Injury Task Force to study the status of sports-related concussions in Alabama and develop strategic plans for identification and treatment.

Approximately 1.5 million Americans sustain traumatic brain injuries annually, with 74,000 Alabama residents living with brain injury-related disabilities.

Concussions occur in organized and unorganized sports through falls or collisions and can result in serious complications including memory loss, cognitive impairment, and seizure disorders.

Urge state agencies, departments, and public or private organizations receiving state funds to participate with the Alabama Head Injury Task Force in developing plans and initiatives addressing sports-related concussions.

Require copies of the resolution to be distributed to each state department and agency to notify them of legislative concerns regarding sports-related concussions.
