House Joint Resolution mourning the death of Mrs. Mable Elliott Carpenter of Tuscumbia, Alabama, who died on February 23, 2010, at age 90

Recognized Mrs. Carpenter as a beloved educator who taught in the Tuscumbia City School System for 31 years and served as an early advocate for equal rights for all citizens

Noted her family heritage as sister of late United States Congressman Carl Elliott and her civic engagement including service on the Valley Credit Union Board and membership in Delta Kappa Gamma

Survivors include her son District Judge George Elliott Carpenter, his wife Sandra, granddaughter Anna Carpenter Soph with her husband Mike, and two great-grandchildren Kate and Andrew

House adopted the resolution on March 3, 2010, and the Senate adopted it on March 23, 2010
