Commends Somerville Police Reserve Officer Steven Bradley Estes as a nominee for the 2010 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, Alabama's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty

Recognizes Estes' heroic actions on October 4, 2009, when he rescued a 44-year-old paralyzed man trapped in a burning home on Bluff City Road shortly after midnight

Details that Estes, ignoring personal safety, carried the man to within four feet of the front door where a second officer completed the rescue; all three men were treated for smoke inhalation at Decatur General Hospital

Notes Estes has served as a dedicated volunteer on the Somerville Police Force since June 2007 and was honored by the Somerville Town Council for his heroic actions beyond the call of duty

Directs that Estes receive a copy of this resolution as a token of the Legislature's admiration and esteem
