Commends Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Marcus Davis as a nominee for the 2010 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, the state's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

On May 7, 2009, Deputy Davis rescued a woman trapped in a submerged vehicle at the intersection of McGehee Road and Debby Drive during Montgomery flooding caused by approximately eight inches of rain within one hour.

After the first rescue, Deputy Davis remained at the scene to prevent traffic from entering floodwaters and attempted to rescue a second driver whose vehicle was sliding into a drainage ditch; a swift current pulled him underwater and forced him to swim to safety.

Recognizes Deputy Davis for demonstrating both mental and physical fitness, valor, and dedication to professional service during the emergency response.

Both houses of the Alabama Legislature adopted the resolution and directed that Deputy Davis receive a copy as a token of admiration and esteem.
