Recognizes Lanett Police Officer Lewis Hill as a nominee for the 2010 Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, the state's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

On September 22, 2008, Officer Hill responded to a shooting incident involving Chambers County Sheriff's Sergeant Shannon Rollins at 4111 23rd Street, S.W., in Lanett.

Officer Hill moved to the exposed side of a police car to assist in rescuing Sergeant Rollins while the perpetrator continued firing, turning his back on the assailant without regard for his personal safety.

Sergeant Rollins was taken to Lanier Hospital for treatment of his injuries as a result of Officer Hill's heroic efforts.

The Alabama Legislature directs that Officer Hill receive a copy of this resolution as a token of admiration and esteem for his exemplary service.
