Commends Alejandro Pena-Esclusa for his opposition to Marxism and totalitarianism in Latin America, undertaken at great personal risk.

Recognizes Pena-Esclusa as an internationally renowned author and lecturer who has written six books and been selected to the Brazilian Academy of Philosophy and honored by Honduras with the Jose Cecilio del Valle Medal.

Acknowledges his role as President of Fuerza Solidaria opposing Hugo Chavez's government in Venezuela and his central role in forming UnoAmerica, a coalition of non-government organizations promoting freedom and democracy in Latin America.

Invites Alejandro Pena-Esclusa to address a joint session of the Alabama Legislature on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at 2:00 p.m.

Directs that a copy of this resolution be presented to him with the legislature's highest regard and deepest gratitude.
