Commends the City of Huntsville and Mayor Tommy Battle for efforts to become a test market for Google Fiber, Google's ultrafast broadband network.

Recognizes Huntsville's high-tech population and position as the "Rocket City" with more professionals holding college degrees per capita than any other U.S. city, making it an ideal location for testing fiber optics technology.

Notes Google Fiber would provide download speeds up to one gigabit per second, approximately 100 times faster than currently available speeds for most homes.

Acknowledges that Google is evaluating more than 70 cities nationwide as possible test markets, considering factors including community support, local regulatory issues, existing Internet connection speeds, and weather.

Extends the Legislature's best wishes to Huntsville's leadership for success in this endeavor.
