House Joint Resolution mourning the death of Mr. Carl "Hoppy" Boyett of Meridianville, Alabama, who died on January 2, 2010, at age 77

Boyett was born August 5, 1932, in Huntsville, served as a First Sergeant in the United States Army, worked as a state inspector for 28 years, and co-owned Dixie Food Market

Boyett dedicated himself to youth sports by officiating thousands of football, basketball, and baseball games and coaching many teams; he was a member and usher at Lincoln Church of Christ and longtime volunteer at Lincoln Elementary School

Boyett is survived by his wife Becky Click Boyett, daughter Kim Cotten and her husband Mike, son David Boyett, brother Robert Boyett and his wife Shirley, and grandsons Jake and Zach Cotten

House adopted resolution on January 21, 2010, and Senate adopted on February 17, 2010, expressing deep sadness and tribute to his life and legacy of community contributions
